Since 1947 George Hammond PLC have applied their exacting standards to the the provision of deep sea pilotage services. This key task, most important to ports located in the world's most congested shipping lanes, is subject to annual licensing by Trinity House and all our pilots have at least five year's experience and superb knowledge of North European waters. Our pilotage service is accessable round the clock and can be booked as late as 48 hours in advance, although an emergency service is also available where operations dictate.

As well as providing a safe passage our pilotage service offers additional benefits:

• optimum routing to maintain schedules without comprimising safety
• knowledge of correct reporting procedures for each port and traffic control system
• ease of communicatin with english as the command language
• operational and administrative support for the master

The majority of vessels can be boarded by launch at Brixham or Cherbourg Pilot Station or at Cherbourg by helicopter although our pilots can join at any European port. Our deep sea pilot will normally remain with the vessel throughout the North European rotation disembarking at Brixham outbound. Charts, ship's mail and stores can also be shipped with the pilot.
